Biography

Kelly Walsh earned her Master of Music degree as a Piano Performance major at Combs’ College of Music in Philadelphia. She was awarded with a scholarship and a fellowship while in graduate school. Kelly’s other areas of study included Orchestration, Music Theory, Music History, Pedagogy and Musicology. She studied orchestration and composition with the celebrated composer, Dr. Romeo Cascarino. Kelly’s post graduate work included ten years of teaching private piano and music appreciation classes at various colleges in the Northeast such as St. Rose College in Albany, NY. She also worked as the piano accompanist for the music department at the State University of New York in Oneonta. 

In 1999 Kelly opened her own practice, Walsh Piano Studio, in Jupiter Florida where she acquired a reputation as an exacting musician and an expressive pianist. As a result of her comprehensive instruction, several of her students were accepted as piano or music majors into prestigious universities. In 2013 she wrote and was granted two United States patents for a music reading method she created.

Kelly is the author of two books on music education for children, Music Wordspeller First Edition and Music Wordspeller Worksheets Edition. The renowned music publisher Hal Leonard offered her a proposal to buy the rights to the first edition of Wordspeller that is currently featured on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. In 2015 Kelly was presented with an award by Readers’ Favorite for receiving a 5 star editorial review for her book.
