Verified Reviews for Piano Lessons with Kelly Walsh in Jupiter

Kelly is an outstanding piano instructor. She is very patient. Many outstanding pianists are unable to convey what they know. But Kelly is able to convey what she knows and do so in a way that the student can follow. My piano playing has improved a great deal while working with Kelly. I strongly recommend taking piano lessons with Kelly.

Kelly is a magical person with music. She has the ability to make you feel so special when she is teaching you. Her calmness about her actually transcends on to you. She is truly patient and made a world of difference in my lessons. I would have to say that in my opinion of which I know others share. Kelly has been my teacher for over five years. She is the best of the best and I highly recommend her!!!!!

I never had formal piano lessons and had not touched a piano in at least 10 years. 2 years ago I began taking lessons weekly (or as close to weekly as my work would allow) from Kelly. Today she is patiently working with me on a segment of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, K.467. This is only made possible because of Kelly, I can assure you it’s not my talent. She is a gifted teacher who knows how and when to guide you forward and if you’re crazy enough to want to try (like me), she encourages and makes sure you can realize your dreams without pushing you down a boring or tedious path. I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy my time with Kelly and how highly I recommend her as a teacher, even if she still makes sure i do not forget my scales!!!

I took piano lessons as a child and had a very strict and rigid teacher. Because of that, I didn’t really enjoy playing. I didn’t play at all for several decades until last year when I decided to give it another try. I found the best teacher in Kelly. From lesson one, I knew that this experience would be different and positive. I actually enjoy playing the piano now! What a difference a teacher makes. Kelly is patient, caring, knowledgeable, and professional. She is encouraging and I always felt that she wanted me to succeed. She plays like an angel and gave me inspiration every time I heard her play. In only one short year I have come a long way and am so pleased with my progress! I wholeheartedly recommend Kelly to teach piano.

When I started with Kelly, I was a life-long consumer of music, but never tried to play an instrument. At the same time, my grandkids and son-in-law were all performing in bands, and I was feeling left out. Now my granddaughter is a college sophomore music major, and her dad plays country twang several nights a week, but with Kelly’s help I think I am catching up, or at least can be in the music conversation with them.

Unlike my family, however, I am a dedicated Beatles fan. With Kelly I have studied a dozen Beatles songs, several of which she wrote out in long hand for me. This is of great personal satisfaction.

Picking music to study is seamless, and if I don’t have something particular in mind, Kelly will always find an interesting new piece.

Kelly has also been a great teacher of music appreciation and theory. I have been able to attend some symphony concerts, and Kelly is always eager to discuss them and answer any questions. I sporadically do some music theory study on my own, and know that Kelly will help with any unclear topics.

I include the photo to show a set-up for a Skype session. It has extra parts that you don’t need (microphone and camera). I started with just a simple Casio keyboard and laptop.

I hope the photo will also attest to my continued enthusiasm for piano lessons with Kelly Walsh

My 9 year old daughter C and I took piano lessons from Kelly for a year. We would have stayed with her indefinitely had she not moved away.

I think Kelly is a wonderful teacher for children and for adults. In my opinion, she individualizes her approach for each student. Kelly is kind but firm; patient but has expectations! She is the consummate teacher. C had taken three years of piano prior to her year with Kelly. While she could play her assigned pieces quite well, her music reading was not where it should have been after three years of lessons. Under Kelly’s tutelage (she has her own method on how to teach children to read music)  however, I would say she caught on quite well. I was deeply pleased to see that Kelly sets the bar high. And, my child rose to the challenge. Kelly uses the lesson time very well. Her lessons include a wide diversity of skill development through the usual collection of level appropriate performance and practice books. But, she augments her teaching my having the student also work on more challenging contemporary or classical music piece of their choice, a jazzy piece, some chords and some scales and some theory.  C’s repertoire of music she can play grew very much this past year.

For adults, her approach is widely different. Since most adults take piano classes for the pure joy of playing, she taps into that passion. Her demeanor is very encouraging and extremely patient. Again, she listens and observes and finds music that the student will be incentivized to invest the time and effort into. For example, I love Jules Massenet’s Meditation de Thais. However, arrangements of this music are well over my level of music accomplishment. Kelly “pulled out” a version of this music that she had arranged and while still difficult, was well within my grasp.

In closing, besides being a wonderful teacher, Kelly is also a gifted piano player. C and I enjoyed every lesson we had with her and wish her well on her move.

Kelly has been my teacher for a few years now. Won’t even think of using someone else. I have come so far with her guidance. You will learn the right way to play piano with her.

Miss Kelly is a fantastic teacher! She has a lovely demeanor and is easy to work with. She picks songs with my interest and advancement in mind. She is encouraging and demanding at the same time. I have flourished under her guidance.

Kelly is a thoughtful, attentive teacher. As an adult student with no prior music experience I appreciate her patience and willingness to adapt to my needs. Oh, and she plays beautifully herself.

I have been studying with Kelly for six years. For the first few years I had lessons in person. More recently, I have been taking lessons via skype. I have improved quite a bit during that time. Kelly is a very knowledgeable teacher. She is also patient. Importantly, she is very encouraging. She appreciates that some weeks I don’t have as much time as others to practice. I strongly recommend Kelly as a piano teacher regardless of the level you are at.

I have been pretty much self teaching myself for 6 months before smarting up and going to a real piano teacher. I was checking out teachers all the while. I finally decided on Kelly Walsh. Well I made the right choice for sure. I have learned so much. More than I have for most of 62 years (music wise). I live in Port St Lucie so it’s a drive to get to her but it’s well worth it. She is a great pianist, extremely knowledgeable, a really great teacher. I have seen how great she is with children too, they love her. So do their parents. So if you really want to learn to play the piano and not waste your money, get to Kelly Walsh.

Can’t say enough about how pleased I am when I take my lessons with Kelly.  Exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable on the piano. I have taken lessons from other instructors and Kelly, I can safely say provides the most patience and best guidance I’ve ever experienced. Always looking forward to my next lesson!

I am amazed at how good my son is after only one year of lessons with Kellly. He’s seriously considering a music degree now when he goes to college instead of Video Game design. Very pleasant. No contracts, no pressure. Highly recommend!

She is really good. My previous teacher didn’t emphasize technique, and so mine was somewhat sloppy. I have really progressed now that I have a teacher with excellent technique. I am an adult, and can definitely say she works well with adults.

Makes me think, makes me work, but it’s a blast! I have had several teachers over the years, Kelly is by far the best in the business. Thanks, Kelly, see you Thursday, my favorite day of the week.

I am honored to write this review.  She has the patience of a saint. She is soft spoken and loves music which reflects on her passion to teach others. I am 55 years old and was given a piano for Christmas. I was very nervous but she quickly put me at ease. I am blessed to have her as my piano teacher. She takes her time with you. She guides you every step of the way without ever getting upset with you. I have listened to her play and well it is breath taking. Anyone who chooses Kelly as their piano teacher will enable all their dreams to come true with their own creativity in music.

I feel lucky to have been Kelly’s student for the last seven years.  Starting out as a raw beginner at age 57, I really had no clue… I couldn’t read music beyond one or two notes and I couldn’t play anything.  Frankly, it’s a miracle she even took me on.

I could go on for hours about her patience and her kindly, quiet persistence.  Her gentle manner…always friendly and encouraging, but always working her craft to move my learning along. Everyone that meets her will tell you these things.

In my opinion, however, what really makes Kelly special is her infectious love of music and piano, which has been reflected in all her interactions with me…from teaching,  to playing. to just talking about music. She has introduced me to so much in music that I would have missed, indeed to entire genres I hardly knew existed.  Somewhere along the line I realized she was teaching me more than notes and piano technique… she was teaching me to become a musician with my own musical voice and expression. What a gift! Thank you, Kelly.

I have been taking piano lessons from Kelly for the past three years and I am deeply impressed with her enthusiasm for teaching how to play the piano.  She is fully committed to the correct piano technique and as well as playing musically. As a piano teacher, she not only possesses a strong background in music education but has a lot of experience in teaching. When it comes to her teaching style, she is a perfectionist.  She will go the extra mile to make sure her student picks up the right playing habits early in the process. As a teacher, she is courteous, reliable, and has a professional stance. If you are serious about learning how to play the piano, Kelly being your piano teacher may make all the difference.

I took lessons as a child (a long time ago!) and learned some of the basics, became overwhelmed and quit.  Now, as an adult, I decided to return to the piano to continue to learn. I am so glad I found Kelly! I started taking lessons with her about a year ago, and immediately some serious weaknesses in my playing revealed themselves: hand and finger position, wrist movement, note reading…just to name some.  Kelly’s response has been consistently patient and encouraging.  Whether I need gentle acceptance of “where I am” or a firmer motivation to break through to rise to a higher challenge  Kelly tailors the lessons to suit me. Kelly Walsh is a patient and talented piano teacher whose love and appreciation for music is obvious and contagious.
